What you save

Takeoffs eat your estimator's week

Most of the hours spent counting steel go to jobs the shop never wins. Hand us the counting and keep those hours for pricing and chasing the work you want.

$38/hr
National median pay for cost estimators, before benefits. Every shop is different, so the calculator starts low at $40 an hour; put in your own.

≈1 hr/sheet
A steel takeoff by hand runs about an hour per drawing sheet. A 20-sheet bid set is half a week of estimating.

1 in 5
Private bids a subcontractor typically wins; on public work it can be 1 in 11. Every job you win carries the cost of the takeoffs you lost.

What you get

Every piece counted, nothing guessed

  • Mill listEvery shape by size and grade: pieces, length and weight, the way you order it.
  • Item by itemEach column, beam, brace and post with its size, length and weight.
  • Plates and connectionsPlates, angles and bent plates by size, with what they are for.
  • Bolts and anchor rodsBy diameter, length and grade, shop and field, with nuts and washers.
  • Stairs, rails, misc.Stringers, treads, guardrail pipe, posts, toe plates and pour stop.
  • Questions and gapsWhat the drawings leave open, listed plainly, so nothing is priced on a guess.
  • Marked drawingsYour drawings marked up: every piece we counted highlighted by type and tagged, columns boxed, and our questions clouded where they come up.
  • An estimate in your numbersSave your shop rates once (labor, hours, material, paint, erection, markups) and the Excel comes with an Estimate sheet priced your way.

A tool for your estimator, not a bid: we count the steel shown on the drawings. Prices, labor and margin are yours; the Estimate sheet only does the math with the rates you save.

Questions

Start your free trial
Is the first takeoff really free?

Yes. Pick a plan and add a card: nothing is charged for 14 days and your first takeoff is free. Cancel before the trial ends and you pay nothing. One trial per company.

What counts as one takeoff?

One bid set for one job, up to about 60 tons or 250 pieces of steel. Bigger jobs count as two, and we confirm that before we start.

What if the drawings are incomplete?

We count what is shown. Missing sizes, details and dimensions go on the questions list, so you can carry an allowance or ask in an RFI.

Can I cancel?

Yes, anytime from your account. Unused takeoffs don't carry over; the plan runs to the end of the month you paid for.

Can I see where you counted?

Yes. Every package comes with your drawings marked up: each piece we counted is highlighted by type and tagged, columns are boxed, and our questions are clouded on the sheet where they come up. In your account you can also mark a spot on the drawings to ask us about it.

Can the takeoff be priced with our rates?

Yes. Save your shop rates once in your account: labor rate, shop hours by item, material prices, paint or galvanizing, erection, freight and your markups. Each takeoff then comes with an Estimate sheet in your numbers, and you can change any rate in the Excel.

Who sees my drawings?

Only our office. Your files stay in your account and are used for your takeoff and nothing else.

Can we work in Spanish?

Yes. Your account, the packages and our replies can be in English or Spanish.
