Terms
Terms for takeoff plans
The terms for the monthly steel takeoff plans sold by Chacon Steel Detailing LLC. Last updated October 9, 2026.
What these terms cover
These terms cover the takeoff plans on this website ("the service"), sold by Chacon Steel Detailing LLC, Aubrey, Texas ("we"). By creating an account and checking the box you agree to them on behalf of your company, and you confirm you may bind it. The service is for businesses (steel fabricators and others who bid steel work), not for personal or household use. How we handle your information is in our privacy policy.
What you get
For each job you send, we count the steel shown in the drawings and send back a takeoff package and our quote to detail the job. The package has an Excel workbook (quantities, price columns and an Estimate sheet), a PDF summary, and your drawings marked up to show what we counted and where our questions are. Turnaround times on the plans are targets, counted in business days from when we have a complete drawing set; if a job will take longer, we tell you before we start.
What a takeoff is, and isn't
A takeoff is an estimating aid: quantities taken from the drawings you send. It is not a bid, a material order or a guarantee of quantities. Drawings change and are often incomplete, so check the quantities against the documents and your own judgment before you bid or order material. Anything missing or unclear in the drawings goes on the package's questions list.
The Estimate sheet prices our quantities with the shop rates you save in your account (labor, hours, material, paint, erection, freight and markups). Those rates are yours: we don't check them, and the sheet only does the arithmetic. Your price, and the decision to bid it, are yours.
Plans and billing
- Starter: 2 takeoffs a month for $695 a month, about 4 business days each.
- Shop: 5 takeoffs a month for $1,495 a month, about 3 business days each.
- Volume: 12 takeoffs a month for $2,995 a month, about 2 business days each.
Plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe, in U.S. dollars plus any sales tax that applies, and renew automatically each month until you cancel. Takeoffs you don't use in a month don't carry over. Takeoffs beyond your plan are $349 each, charged to your card on file when you send the job; if the card is declined, the job isn't sent.
One takeoff is one bid set for one job, up to about 60 tons or 250 pieces of steel. Bigger jobs count as two, and we confirm that with you before we start.
Pay per job
Without a plan, you can buy a single takeoff for $449, paid on Stripe's page when you send the job, with the same package and detailing quote and a target of about 4business days. Pay-per-job takeoffs don't come with a free trial and don't count toward a plan.
Free trial
Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial that includes your first takeoff. You add a card when you sign up, and nothing is charged during the trial. Cancel before the trial ends and you pay nothing; otherwise the plan you picked starts when the trial ends and the first month is charged then. "Start my plan now" in your account ends the trial early and charges the first month right away. One free trial per company.
Cancelling and refunds
You can cancel anytime from your account (Manage billing). Your plan stays on until the end of the month you have paid for, and then it stops. We don't refund partial months or unused takeoffs.
Your drawings
Your drawings stay yours. You confirm you are allowed to share them with us for estimating. We use them only to prepare your takeoff and our detailing quote, we keep them confidential, and only our office opens them. You may use the packages we deliver for your own estimating and bids.
Our detailing quote
The detailing quote that comes with a takeoff is our offer to detail that job, on the terms written on the quote. It doesn't oblige you to hire us.
Your account
Keep your password to yourself and give us correct company and contact details. One account is for one company; people at the same company can share it. We may close accounts used to abuse the free trial or the service.
Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim about the service is limited to what you paid us for the service in the three months before the claim, and we are not liable for lost profits, lost bids, or indirect, special or consequential damages, even if we were told they were possible.
You are responsible for your bids and material orders, and for checking a takeoff against the contract documents before you rely on it.
Notices
You agree that we may send you notices about your account, charges and these terms by email to the address on your account, and that those emails count as written notice.
Changes, and Texas law
We may change prices or these terms. We'll email you at least 30 days before a price change on your plan or a change to these terms takes effect, and you can cancel before it does. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas; any dispute goes to the state or federal courts for Denton County, Texas.
